Frequently Asked Questions

Don’t worry – I understand that pet’s aren’t people and that’s why I don’t expect them to sit patiently during my shoots. In fact some of my best photos are captured when pets are just being themselves. We’ll chat about this and any other questions you may have during our informal planning session – this way, we get plenty of time to decide how we’ll manage things during your session.

Not at all. Safety and security are really important, so if it’s best that your dog stays on their lead, that’s absolutely not a problem. There are lots of ways we can hide or disguise their lead during your session so we can still capture a full and varied range of creative images. Any traces of lead still visible in the final pictures can then always be removed when I edit your photos.

I keep a close eye on the weather and will be in touch with you the day before your session to either confirm things look good or reschedule if the weather looks poor. Should the really unexpected happen and the weather takes a turn for the worst during the shoot, we’ll choose whether to break and see if things brighten, or re-schedule and finish off another day.

Of course – in fact I’d positively encourage even the most camera shy to consider having at least one or two photos with their pet. I’m guessing it’s not every day you have a photo shoot with your pet so why not make the most of it? After all it’s you who gets to choose exactly which photos to keep so if you don’t like them, you don’t have to choose them.

Yes, of course you can bring along who you like, but try to keep numbers to a minimum so your dog doesn’t get too distracted by too many people. Two is an ideal number for my purposes because you can call your dog between you. You can bring your children to the shoot and I can photograph the whole family with your dog too.

Yes. The only place I don’t take photos is in a studio.

Generally, ensure that you have old footwear, waterproofs (if outside), water for the dog, poop bags, towels and a good lead.

Its can be advisable to have them with you if your dog or cat responds well to treats yet please refrain from using them until directed as some animals, especially horses can become too obsessed with treats once they know that they are present.

Its not essential, though some owners may wish to have that “just groomed” look. If your pet animal is not going for the full grooming treatment, a good brush or clean up may give that coat an extra shine and be tangle free. Its advisable to ensure that the eyes are free from stray hairs or other deposits that can accumulate (unless of course the breed of pet you have its typical for the eyes not to be visible).
